New additons have been added to the content of the University Libraries' EIU databases. Risk Briefing, Industry Briefing, Business Briefing, Economist.com and Executive Briefing are now available to Mason-affiliated researchers.
Description and access to these new resources are available when you click on the link to either the EIU Country Information or EIU Viewswire from the GMU Libraries' Database Wizard.

Two New Databases Available

Now available from the GMU Libraries HomePage are 2 new electronic resources of interest to School of Public Policy students. Policy File contains full-text analytical papers and policy research from think tanks and research institutes, from 1990 to the present. Also new in the Database Wizard is Digital National Security Archive, a Proquest electronic resource. It includes over 55,000 primary declassified documents in full text covering such issues as Iraqgate, the Vietnam War and Terrorism issues up to 2002. Look for both these new resources at the University Libraries homepage:

Patterns of Global Terrorism

FRASER, A Website for Economic Information

FRASER is the newest project created by the Research Division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. The acronym stands for the Federal Reserve Archival System for Economic Research.
FRASER contains a wealth of historical economic statistical publications, releases and documents, including Economic Indicators, Annual Statistical Digest, Business Cycle Developments, Business Conditions Digest,Senate Documents, and all FRB Statistics from 1896 through 1955.

UNIC Library

The United Nations Information Centre Library is located at 1775 K Street NW, Suite 400 in Washington, DC. The Library subscribes to a number of online statistical resources such as UNSTATS, UNBISNET, and Monthly Bulletin of Statitics, and also houses official records of the General Assembly and other bodies such as the Economic and Social Council.Documents and publications may be borrowed from the Library through Interlibrary Loan for a 5-day period. Researchers may visit and use the UNIC Library Monday through Friday BY APPOINTMENT ONLY; please call 202-454-2112 to schedule an appointment.

Library of Congress Orientations

First-time users of the Library of Congress may be interested in the formal research orientation classes which are regularly scheduled on Mondays during the spring and summer of 2005. Researchers will receive an introduction to the facilities and Reading Room collections and an overview of online forms and electronic resources. Both morning and evening sessions are available during May, June and July, and are held in the Jefferson Building. Please see the Library of Congress website for exact dates:

Library Renovation--Summer 2005

Two major renovation projects will take place at Fenwick Library during May-August 2005. One is the renovation & expansion of book stack space on Floor 2B. The second is the replacement and improvement of the front steps and plaza area at the main entrance to Fenwick Library.
The 2B renovation requires that most books on that floor (religious studies, philosophy, and European history)be unavailable after May 15, 2005 through completion of the renovation in August. Psychology books will be available on request from closed stacks, while Mason theses and dissertations will be available for library use only through Special Collections. Materials, as always, can be obtained through WRLC (Consortium Loan Service) or Interlibrary Loan. Library staff will be available to expedite student and faculty requests for the affected collection areas.
